A\u00ednda fumegaban os cad\u00e1veres dos mortos nos atentados de Barcelona e Cambrils. Mais a programaci\u00f3n obrigaba. No escenario montado no Poble Espanyol aparece, diante duns tres mil espectadores, unha radiante Polly Jean Harvey (Somerset, England, 9\/10\/1969): vestida de rigoroso negro, coma o resto da s\u00faa numerosa banda, encabezado polos seus dous m\u00e1is fieis m\u00fasicos, John Parish e Mick Harvey, e leva un saxof\u00f3n entre as mans: liturxia e cerimonial en escena.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A\u00ednda que xa ti\u00f1a participado no festival literario Kosmopolis do pasado 26 de marzo, onde brindou un recital que ti\u00f1a coma sustento os poemas que recoll\u00eda no libro <i>El hueco en la mano<\/i> (Sexto piso, 2015), un volume firmado a medias co fotoxornalista Seamus Murphy, co que v\u00e9n traballando dende a composici\u00f3n de \u201cLet England Shake\u201d (2011), a brit\u00e1nica non ti\u00f1a pisado un escenario da capital catal\u00e1 dende o Primavera Sound de 2016.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Os poemas cos que PJ deixou constancia que tam\u00e9n sabe dominar a faceta de recitadora po\u00e9tica ou l\u00edrica, son os que conforman a osamenta de \u201cThe Hope Six Demolition Project\u201d (2016), un \u00e1lbum que, ag\u00e1s algunha lagoa que outra, mant\u00e9n o nivel na li\u00f1a de ascendente excelencia na que leva instalada a cantante e compositora inglesa dende a s\u00faa posta de longo. Contaba 23 primaveras Polly Jean cando gravou \u201cRid Of Me\u201d, uns nove meses m\u00e1is tarde de que debutase con \u201cDry\u201d (1992).<a href=\"http:\/\/cafebarbantia.barbantia.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/PJ_1200.gif\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-8305\" alt=\"PJ_1200\" src=\"http:\/\/cafebarbantia.barbantia.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/PJ_1200-300x180.gif\" width=\"300\" height=\"180\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cafebarbantia.barbantia.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/PJ_1200-300x180.gif 300w, https:\/\/cafebarbantia.barbantia.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/PJ_1200-1024x614.gif 1024w, https:\/\/cafebarbantia.barbantia.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/PJ_1200-900x540.gif 900w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a> Dura, sucia, temible e violenta soaba a de Somerset nunhas canci\u00f3ns que seguen conservando a vixencia dun manifesto de empoderamento feminino, complexo e contraditorio, poli\u00e9drico.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Pero se a acidez, a crueza e ata a violencia rabiosa, furiosa da carne, do sexo eran os elementos cos que tec\u00eda o pano s\u00f3nico do seu comezo, co paso dos anos, coa madurez, PJ debuxa e pinta unha paraxe sonora moi distinta. Nesta nova etapa, resoan tambores de guerra sobre o lenzo e a cr\u00f3nica pol\u00edtico, hist\u00f3rico e social, na que denuncia o rumbo que se ten trazado o mundo, o noso mundo. Non outra cousa cabe deducir dos seu airados e solemnes discos dos \u00faltimos anos: \u201cLet England Shake\u201d e o m\u00e1is recente \u201cThe Hope Six Demolition Project\u201d. Antes destes dous tivemos o pracer de escoitar o considerado \u201cm\u00e1is raro\u201d \u00e1lbum da brit\u00e1nica: \u201cWhite Chalk\u201d (2007), unha monumental obra na que a s\u00faa impresionante voz navega sobre un mar de fantasmais canci\u00f3ns, fibras de piano espidas at\u00e9 os osos, con puntuais reforzos de guitarra ou harm\u00f3nica. Esta obra, que alg\u00fans te\u00f1en cualificado coma <i>l\u00e1nguida<\/i>, est\u00e1 poboada cunhas letras en carne viva, ateigadas de ausencias e perdas.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/cafebarbantia.barbantia.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/pj.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-8306\" alt=\"pj\" src=\"http:\/\/cafebarbantia.barbantia.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/pj-300x300.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cafebarbantia.barbantia.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/pj-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/cafebarbantia.barbantia.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/pj-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/cafebarbantia.barbantia.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/pj-144x144.jpg 144w, https:\/\/cafebarbantia.barbantia.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/pj.jpg 700w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>En \u201cLet England Shake\u201d, octavo longa duraci\u00f3n en solitario, explora a iconograf\u00eda da destruci\u00f3n, coa Grande Guerra (1914-18) coma malla ou rede de fondo. \u00c1lbum febril e desesperado, bastante lonxe de \u201cWhite Chalk\u201d. Con \u201cThe Hope Six Demolition Project\u201d, que arranca coa luminosa <i>The Community Of Hope<\/i>, regresa un pouco \u00e1 senda popera que se reflect\u00eda en \u201cStories from the City, Stories from the Sea\u201d (2000) e af\u00e1stase da ferida aberta no anterior traballo.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Dende a visceralidade e a pulsi\u00f3n sexual de \u201cRid Of Me\u201d, a escuridade da s\u00faa primeira colaboraci\u00f3n con Flood en \u201cTo Bring You My Love\u201d (1995) e a \u00e9poca das turbulentas aventuras amorosas con Nick Cave, tam\u00e9n marcada polos disfraces de vampiresa, m\u00e1is de d\u00faas d\u00e9cadas despois de situarse no mapa sonoro internacional, a vocalista brit\u00e1nica segue ceg\u00e1ndonos e seduc\u00edndonos: exhibe un enorme poder\u00edo vocal, amosa unha impecable posta en escena: sobria e contundente, escura e convulsa, pero \u00e1 vez chea de vitalidade para desenvolver con poderosa enerx\u00eda un repertorio absolutamente turbador.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Gonzalo Trasbach.
